Dear Guru Maharaja,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to you and Srila Prabhupada.
I really want to read the S.B. very bad. I have a computer now with internet access. So I can read the S.B. at vedabase.com.
However it hurts my eyes when I read. I know that I need new glasses for reading. I have bought several lamps, but they keep breaking. The light bulbs keep breaking.
So I have a few impediments from reading the S.B., but I really want to study it regularly so I can become a pure devotee like Srila Prabhupada. Can you please tell me something to inspire me more to read? Can you please help motivate me? Because I am having a hard time these days. Thank you.
Dear Bhakta Richard,
Please accept my blessings. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
There is a nice verse in Srimad-Bhagavatam (1.2.18) that says:
bhaktir bhavati naisthiki
By regular attendance in classes on the Bhagavatam and by rendering of service to the pure devotee, all that is troublesome to the heart is almost completely destroyed, and loving service unto the Personality of Godhead, who is praised with transcendental songs, is established as an irrevocable fact.
So you should read Srimad-Bhagavatam regularly. However is not easy to read much with a screen, as eyes tend to bother after some time. Better books.
Please read Srimad-Bhagavatam and chant Hare Krishna, and by so doing you will develop pure love for Radha-Krishna.
